About Us

Hey everyone!

I'm Spencer and It's my mission to help others lead a healthier lifestyle.

My real goal is to bring you high quality information about the skin care industry, simple solutions for skin problems, natural remedies (which have sadly been forgotten in the Western hemisphere), the effects cosmetics have on health, and even how large corporations and federal agencies like the FDA have a huge say in what they allow in our personal care products.

While the want for synthetic, chemical-filled products is huge, there was simply never a need for them. The truth is, up to 60% of what we put on our skin gets absorbed into the bloodstream and is then processed by the liver. Cancer-causing, hormone dysfunction, allergies, toxin buildup in the body, birth defects in pregnant women, and contact dermatitis are just some of the ways our everyday personal care and cosmetic products can effect us. That's fact.

Anything that can potentially effect your skin, and in turn, your health will be talked about. Any political authority impacting us in a negative way for profits, will be exposed. I will dive into the world of skin care and investigate many important issues effecting us today, while providing simple solutions. In turn, you can make healthy decisions for you and your family.

Why Loa?

I'm a young male with a thirst for knowledge, and a passion for natural and organic skin care. I love herbs and botanicals, and hate GMO's and the corporations profiting off them.

A little history...

It all started for me back in High school (I'm 21 now), when I realized how chapped my lips had become. They were so dry, they would actually crack open and bleed. After years of gross-looking lips that hurt, I finally went online and started doing research into what the heck was going on.

I started out by researching better lip balms to use (I was using Blistex and Vaseline for the most part), and after trying numerous lip balm brands, the condition of my lips did not improve. I realized these were just bad recommendations by blogs, simply because these products were popular and easily accessible.

I decided to look into the ingredients that made up these products, and It's a good thing I did! I learned that many different ingredients used in those products, and many products today actually dried my skin out more. Not only that, I learned about all of the health implications associated with continued use of certain ingredients. The most common ingredient I was putting on my skin was petroleum.

The shocking news:

Petroleum is, unfortunately, a widely used ingredient. I learned that It's an occlusive agent that blocks pores and seals off the skin from air, water or anything else. If It's blocking your pores, your skin is unable to absorb anything else (not even from the environment), so that means no nourishment externally of any kind! That definitely explained a lot as to why my lips were in a constant state of dryness.

That wasn't even the bad news.. Petroleum may even be carcinogenic (cancer-causing) if It's contaminated with an impurity called 1,4 dioxan. Which is the sole reason why the EU has banned petroleum. According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), 22 percent of all cosmetics and some other personal care products, mainly detergents, may be contaminated by 1,4 dioxan. (Source) Even worse, is that it may also be present in 57% of baby soaps. Ummm.. What?! There are processes to remove this toxin from ingredients, but companies often don't. What does that tell you? They don't care about you, they care about your money.

Ever since I learned this information, I was hooked on skin care.

I am in no way an "expert" or a scientist, I am simply a guy who cares about the health for myself and others. I'm already knowledgeable about skin care, but I don't know everything.
